Foreside Refreshed

Once a mash-up of design styles, this house was given a full, cohesive, refresh which included a large-scale renovation of the first floor. The homeowners wanted to create a Bed and Breakfast vibe for their four adult children to come visit, to relax, and to be restored.

We achieved this by opening up the Kitchen to the Den and fully renovating the space with bespoke cabinetry created by the builder’s millwork shop, including a breakfast and coffee bar with pocketing doors. Dark ceilings in the Great Room were custom stained to compliment the new addition of a white-washed Oak Wet Bar. We revived the whole home’s color palette with coastal hues and whimsical wallpapers. Aside from some art pieces that the clients wanted to work into the design, the home was also fully furnished to provide family-friendly, casual spaces for their guests to unwind. With a family full of readers, the homeowners desired a collection of cozy nooks for folks to curl up with a good book or game. A few bedrooms, the Media Room, and Den are just a few of the spaces to have these added special spots. Stay tuned for our next project on this property - creating a Guest House coming in 2024!

Rangeley Retreat

“Building and furnishing a new home can be daunting, but working with Emily and Anthony made it remarkably pleasurable, and incredibly satisfying. I’ve worked with other interior designers in the past, and Emily’s approach is unique and inclusive. She took the time to truly learn our tastes and the desired outcome for the space. I appreciated her process of first listening to what we wanted and coming up with a wholistic approach, testing it out in CAD, followed by a review of several choices and finally choosing together the best layout and items for us…as there were so many choices and decisions to be made! We are thrilled with the outcome. Our home reflects our tastes, and Emily made it a reality. Emily and Anthony are both so easy to work with and are genuinely wonderful individuals. If the opportunity presents, I would be thrilled to work with them again!” - Rangeley Retreat Homeowner

Mussel Cove Residence

A massive renovation of this 1920’s home blended the old architecture with new. The inspiration for the design was California Modern meets Coastal Maine. New larger windows and doors were installed to capture the views of the tidal cove. No detail was overlooked; from custom designed moldings, to the walnut cabinet interiors, hand knotted custom carpets, to the art on the walls. The fixtures and furnishings were thoughtfully selected to create this elegant and sophisticated home suited for hosting, just as the client envisioned it.

Kennebunkport Farmhouse

A large attached barn was taken down, piece by piece to be thoughtfully repurposed for the creation of a large addition to this antique, vacation home. The flooring, beams, and wood countertops were reclaimed and installed to feel as if the new spaces have always been a part of the 1800’s home. This coastal farmhouse is fit for entertaining and through the summer often full of activity, friends, and family.

Kittery Point

The plot of land purchased for this new construction home begged for a design to showcase the view. The architect-builder did just that, creating spaces that had large windows and sliding doors paired with corner windows to maximize the panoramic views of the Atlantic. The crisp interiors with contemporary detailing used a varying palette of soothing blues that complemented the surrounding environments.

Hills Beach Lookout

An old family cottage, resting above the sand dunes, was taken down and a new home for summers at the beach was erected on a narrow plot of land. With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and a tidal pool on the other, the interiors reflected the outdoors with a collection of hues of blues, whites, and light woods. Transitional design details with a hint of modern were the common thread in the custom millwork and trim package. The goal of this project was to create a family-friendly beach house, which encourages guests to be barefoot, carefree, and enjoy some downtime by the sea.

Ocean's Edge

Custom built for a family of six, the main goal of this home’s design was to capture the sweeping views of the Atlantic and to create family-friendly spaces. The first floor was painted a fresh, bright white which draws you to the views beyond the windows and the large folding doors. Nautical details and colors were subtly woven into the design through the use of lighting, whimsical wall coverings, furnishings, and art.

South Freeport Serenity

A client's desire for a light and airy Kitchen-Living spaces resulted in this sophisticated, fresh, yet cozy space. The walls were treated with a refined grass cloth set off from high gloss trim, chair rail, and crown molding. A variety of cool greys, whites, and textures were used within the upholstery and accents to create a calm and serene space. A custom designed media cabinet with antiqued mirror covered up the clutter and housed a large TV.  In the Kitchen, cherry cabinets were replaced with white, shaker style cabinets and Carrara Marble counter tops, which carried the cool color palette and airy feel throughout the first floor.

Cape Coastal Modern

Situated between two historic light houses, this upside-down home was renovated to reflect a modern aesthetic that better represented the young couple and their pups that reside there. A modern steel staircase and clear story with custom light fixture spans three floors connecting and adding an airy nature to the home.

Lakeside Modern

Large windows are plentiful in this modern vacation home. It was our intention to create spaces that showcased the view and updated the interior aesthetic.

Once a dated master bathroom with a sunken tub, we converted it to an open, bright, modern, and spa-like bathroom with a full renovation. The vanity with a pair of custom, floating mirrors allows the clients to catch a glimpse of the lake beyond the mirrors. A stand-alone, soaking tub is nestled on the lake side of the bathroom surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. A unique design feature of a wall-to-wall storage niche accents the large walk-in shower.

A custom glazed cabinet finish brought the previously country-feeling kitchen in line with the more modern feel of the rest of the house. New pendant lights and a light, stone backsplash accent, but do not deter from the sweeping views of the lake outside the corner window.

Drakes Island Getaway

For generations family gathered in an old cottage that was no longer architecturally sound, which resulted in a new, thoughtfully designed home crafted to house a blended family and their many friends and family. The surrounding wetlands restricted the footprint of the building, but the design was laid out to maximize sleeping options in rooms named after local, coastal birds. The open concept first floor has a custom designed kitchen, can seat 12 for dinner, and has a casual lounge area perfect for both cocktail hour or more formal dinners.

The attic space was a bonus and we created a nautical bunk room for a pre-teen and her cousins to enjoy while on family vacations. This spacious room sleeps 7 and also boasts a TV watching area, game table, and built-in toy storage. The lighting and porthole in the door were reclaimed from old ships to make this space authentically nautical.
